This Privacy Policy explains what data Looper AI collects, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We've kept it as plain as we can. If anything is unclear, email us.

1. What we collect

Account information

• Email address — to identify your account and send transactional messages (round shares, password resets).
• Name (display name) — shown to friends and on shared scorecards.

On-course data

• Precise location (GPS) — only while the app is open and you've started a round. Used to compute distances to the green, hazards, and shot tracking. Never stored on our servers in raw form; only round summaries (course, score, hole-by-hole stats) are saved.
• Microphone audio — only while you're actively pressing the mic button. Used to recognize voice commands. Audio is processed on-device by iOS speech recognition; the recognized text may be sent to our AI provider to generate a caddie response. Raw audio is never stored.
• Round data — scores, course played, date, holes-by-hole scores, and notes you save. Stored on our servers so you can review history, share with friends, and view stats.
• Bag and preferences — your club carry distances and app preferences. Stored locally on your device; synced to our servers only if you opt in to multi-device sync (planned).

Subscription data

• If you subscribe through the iOS app, Apple handles the payment — we never see your card details. We do receive your subscription status (active, trial, expired) via RevenueCat to unlock Pro features.

Usage telemetry

• Crash logs and basic anonymized usage events (pages opened, features tapped) — used to fix bugs and prioritize improvements. Not tied to your name or email.

2. What we do NOT do

• We do not track you across other apps or websites.
• We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers or data brokers.
• We do not use your microphone or location when the app is in the background.
• We do not show third-party ads.

3. Third-party services we use

Looper AI is built on top of these services. Each is bound by their own privacy policies:

• Vercel — hosting and serverless functions (where our backend lives). vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy
• Anthropic Claude / OpenAI — to generate AI caddie responses to your golf questions. Only the question text plus hole context (yardage, wind, your bag) is sent. No identifying account information is included.
• ElevenLabs / OpenAI TTS — to turn caddie answers into natural-sounding speech. Only the answer text is sent.
• golfcourseapi.com / golfapi.io — to look up course scorecards and GPS coordinates. We send the course name you searched for; no personal data.
• Open-Meteo — for wind and elevation. We send course coordinates; no personal data.
• OpenStreetMap — for satellite map tiles and course polygons. We send your map view; no personal data.
• Apple / RevenueCat — for in-app subscriptions on iOS. Apple handles all payment; RevenueCat tells us your subscription state.

4. How long we keep data

Round data, account information, and friend connections are retained until you delete your account. To delete your account and all associated data, email support@looperai.app from your registered email address. We'll process the deletion within 30 days.

5. Your rights

Wherever you live, you can:

• Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
• Delete — ask us to delete your account and all associated data.
• Correct — fix anything that's wrong in your profile.
• Export — get your round history in a portable format.

6. Children

Looper AI is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we'll remove it.

7. Security

We use HTTPS for all data in transit. Passwords are stored hashed (we never store plain-text passwords). The backend runs on Vercel's managed infrastructure. We do our best, but no system is bulletproof — if there's ever a breach affecting your data, we'll notify you and the relevant authorities promptly.

8. Changes to this policy

If we materially change what data we collect or how we use it, we'll notify you in the app and via email. The current version is always available at looperai.app/privacy.html.
